Hey All,
My journey towards standby without battery drain continues ![]() Big step forward was doing this: http://inov8tr.blogs.com/scooby/2006...b_solutio.html to my DLINK hub. But... After making this mod on the hub, I get the following behavior when turning the ignition off: the hub IMMEDIATELY loses all power before the PC has entered the standby state. When I turn the car back on and the computer comes out of standby, I hear the USB disconnect / connect noises (fine by me) but the touch screen is not operable until I unplug it and plug it back in. It seems the rapid shutdown of all power from the USB hub is causing this issue. I' guessing the 6 second delay does not apply to the secondary output based on the jumper settings I have? J1: connect to external, deadman enabled, standby, 6 seconds J2: +5V - it is what's currently powering the hub J3: not used J4: DLYON J5: +5V J6: +19V What would the expected behavior be in terms of shutting off the secondary output? If the above is the expected behavior, any thoughts on workarounds to allow the hub to be powered for a few more seconds after the ignition is turned off so that the PC can shut down first? Thanks again, Per |

Well, I certainly know a work around: use a Molex connection to power the hub instead

..did that and now everything works exactly like I want it to. I ordered the P5V a couple of days ago; when I get it, I'll use the secondary output for the screen @ +12v (not using it all right now since I disconnected the hub from it), and I'll use the P5V to power my second hub that'll be back in the trunk. I'll see how the power on/off goes with those devices (gps, bluetooth, not sure what else yet).
Anyway - although this thread is a one man show, tons of thanks to mikeh, mikeb and david for guiding me in the right direction. Cheers, Per |
